Unemployment increases in regions of the State

Victoria's Regions suffer higher unemployment, despite the overall improvement in the labour market and the State's economy.

Cities and regional centres outside Melbourne recorded unemployment from 6 percent in late September, over 5. 5 percent a year earlier, according to figures released by the Federal Ministry of education, employment and workplace relations.

In Melbourne, where three quarters of the work of victory force lives, unemployment fell to the same period 5.5 per cent to 5.2 per cent.

Southbank and Docklands unemployment was only 1.5 percent.

Although much of the State seemed to have shrank the effects of the global financial crisis, there were some areas in Melbourne and regions where unemployment has increased strongly during 2010.

Service providers, and analysts say that part of the reason is the health of manufacturing industry of victory, which lost more than 30 thousand jobs since the beginning of 2008 and is no longer the State's largest employer.

The claim is supported by 12 unemployment figures. 9 percent for Dandenong and 15.9 percent to Broadmeadows-areas with significant manufacturing industries.
